2. How long does delivery take?

Diasec® Mount Finished Artworks

Please anticipate a longer lead time for these orders. Diasec® orders should take a maximum of 30 days to be delivered. You will be kept up to date regarding date of completion and delivery date. This is completely dependent on the third party printing & mounting process.

3. What do you mean by a numbered limited edition print?

Each limited edition print is limited to a fixed quantity of prints per size that will be printed, ever. Your print will have a specific number associated to it so you know exactly which edition it is within the number of limited edition prints.

4. Does my print come signed?

Yes. Each print is hand signed by Kyle Kingsley prior to delivery.

5. What paper do you print on?

All Kyle Kingsley prints are printed on the finest archival Hahnemühle Photo Rag® FineArt Inkjet paper. Photo Rag® is a white, 100% cotton paper with a smooth surface texture that guarantees archival standards. With its premium matt inkjet coating, Photo Rag® meets the highest standard regarding density, colour gamut, colour graduation and image sharpness while preserving the special touch and feel of genuine art paper.

The Diasec® face-mounted finished artworks are also printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag® FineArt Inkjet paper prior to mounting.

6. Does my print come with a certificate of authenticity (COA)?

Yes. Each print comes with a certificate of authenticity that proves it is an original Kyle Kingsley print. Each certificate is hand signed and delivered in a plastic envelope which can be placed behind the framed artwork or kept for safe keeping elsewhere.

7. Does the print come framed?

No. All prints are unframed. The Diasec® face-mounted finished artworks are ready to be hung on your wall post-delivery. More information regarding Diasec® can be found here.

Framing options will be available as a checkout option to South African buyers soon.

8. Why do you not offer framing?

Framing is a subjective process that buyers of art should be involved with in a hands-on approach. It is recommended that the colour, type, mount, boarder and glass type is chosen with budget and existing decor in mind. If you are looking for a finished artwork, the Diasec® face-mounted finished artworks are ready to be hung on your wall and do not require a frame.

9. Where can I have my print framed?

In Cape Town, I have experience with both Orms and The Art & Framing Factory. Both of these locations offer highly professional framing services with varying degrees of technical specifications and pricing on offer.

Every town generally has a local framing shop. Whether using an old frame, buying an already made frame, or having your print custom framed; I recommend taking the print and frame to your local framer to ensure it is framed professionally.

10. Can I frame the print myself if I use an old frame or buy an already made frame?

You can - but the probability of the print being damaged in the process is relatively high if you don’t know what you’re doing. I recommend making use of your local framing service to ensure the process is completed without any damage being done to the print.

11. Do the prints come with a border?

Yes. All prints come with a white 50mm (5cm) border that contains the edition number and Kyle Kingsley signature.

12. How long will the print last?

All prints are printed on archival Hahnemühle Photo Rag® FineArt Inkjet paper that has been tested to last more than 200 hundred years.

13. How do I receive my print?

All prints will be shipped to the address provided upon check out. If you have a special delivery request, please don’t hesitate to make direct contact.

14. How should I unroll my print once received?

It is advised that prints are not unrolled unless done so by a framing professional. By unrolling the print more than required, one increases the risk of damage done to the print prior to framing. The following steps are to be followed when unrolling the print:

  1. Ensure hands are clean and dry. Clean surgical gloves are the best solution.

  2. Remove print from tube.

  3. Ensure the print is placed directly on a flat surface prior to unrolling.

  4. Cover the print in tissue paper

  5. Roll the print around the tube that the print was delivered in.

  6. Hold the print in the newly rolled position for approximately 30 seconds.

  7. Unroll and remove tissue paper.

  8. The print is now ready to be framed.

15. Do you have advice to aid the framing process?

The first step is to take your rolled print straight to your local professional framer as the more times the print is handled the higher the risk of damage prior to framing. Nobody wants to damage their brand new print.

Generally, there are four framing components that you need to navigate when dealing with your local framer, namely:

  1. Frame profile

  2. Frame finish

  3. Mounting style

  4. Glazing

There are various subjective options when it comes to each component, so the best option is to go down to your local framer and consult based on your desired outcome. My recommendation for these four components are:

  1. Frame profile: Wooden box frame

  2. Frame Finish: Subjective based on colour and style of decor in room where finished artwork is to be hung.

  3. Mounting Style: Window mount with 3-5cm boarder depending on size of print.

  4. Glaze: Subjective based on location artwork is hung and subsequent light impacting viewing of artwork.

A clear break down of the framing process can be found via Orms.

16. What size prints are available?

Generally speaking, Kyle Kingsley prints are offered in four different sizes, namely: A3; A2; A1 and A0. There are a handful of prints that are only available in A3 and A2. Larger custom sizing can be arranged for specific prints on request.

17. Which prints are limited edition and which are not?

All Kyle Kingsley prints are limited edition.

18. Can I buy an entire edition?

Yes. You can be the sole owner of an image on condition that no other editions have been sold. This means that you will be the only person on the earth to own a printed edition of that particular photograph. The cost of buying an entire edition is R100 000 and it will be numbered 1 out of 1. In addition, you will be able to select three other limited edition prints of your choice to be included with the purchase of an entire edition.
